Des Moines Symphony announces Water Works Pop Series

The Des Moines Symphony today announced the details of its new Water Works Pops Series, slated to begin this summer. The Symphony will offer a yearly series of free outdoor concerts in the newly constructed Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park in Des Moines. The concerts, along with the Symphony’s Annual Yankee Doodle Pops Concert, are free to attend.

The Symphony will open the inaugural Water Works Pops Season on July 14 with guest artist Renée Elise Goldsberry, winner of the 2016 Best Featured Actress Tony Award for her portrayal of Angelica Schuyler in the smash hit musical, “Hamilton.” Audiences will experience a memorable evening of Broadway, pop and soul concluding with a spectacular fireworks display. On July 28, the Symphony will celebrate the music of iconic film composer John Williams. From “Star Wars” to “Harry Potter” and more, Joseph Giunta will lead the Orchestra in this celebration of beloved film favorites under the stars.
