Brett Young named ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year

Multi-PLATINUM selling artist Brett Young has earned the title of New Male Vocalist of the Year for the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, recognizing his praiseworthy accolades and the impressive trajectory of his career as Young continues to set himself apart from other newcomers in the genre. Young received a surprise phone call from 53rd ACM Awards® host Reba McEntire notifying him of the news.

“I was blown away when I got the call from Reba. Winning an ACM Award is something every Country artist dreams about,” Young said. “It’s an absolute honor to receive this award in a category of incredible artists, and I’m so thankful to the ACM and my fans for making this a reality.”

Young is set to perform on the ACM Awards, to be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 15, at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

Capturing attention right out of the gate, all three of his singles “Sleep Without You,” “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Like I Loved You” climbed to No. 1, making Young the artist who has spent the most time atop the Billboard Country Airplay Chart within the past 12 months. With his third single “Like I Loved You” reaching over 1 million in consumption, all three of the singles have now reached PLATINUM status. His breakout smash “In Case You Didn’t Know” has reached 3X PLATINUM status, making him the only debut Country artist to reach that sales milestone since 2014. And while Young’s newest single “Mercy” is steadily climbing the radio charts, the video for the song has already hit No. 1 in its second week on the Vevo Top Country chart.

Brett Young’s “soothing, approachable” (New York Times) self-titled debut album (BMLG Records) became an instant success upon its 2017 release when it dominated the Top 20 on the Country Albums chart for 37 weeks. Delivering hit after hit, Young became one of Country music’s “most reliable new hitmakers” (Tennessean). Along with the success of his songs, his music videos have become fast hits as well, with “In Case You Didn’t Know” surpassing 175 million views alone – more than any debut Country artist. He is also the only Country artist to have three songs charting in the Top 200 on Shazam. Drawing in a devoted fan base with his unique voice, “a gentle and seductive combination of silk and gravel” (All Access), he “doesn’t sound like anyone else in Nashville” (Omaha World Herald). Named as the only Country act to Billboard’s Top 10 New Artists, fans have flocked to hear Young’s distinct sound live, selling out every single stop on his debut headlining CALIVILLE TOUR. Fans can catch Young on Thomas Rhett’s LIFE CHANGES TOUR 2018 this spring. For additional information, visit brettyoungmusic.com.
