Davenport named Des Moines Symphony Director of Development

The Des Moines Symphony recently announced the appointment of Renée Davenport as its new Director of Development, a key leadership role responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through strategic fundraising and donor engagement.

Davenport joined the Des Moines Symphony staff in May 2014 as an administrative and development assistant and has made a lasting impact on the organization over the past decade. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Coe College and a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. With her promotion, Davenport will lead the Symphony’s comprehensive development program, overseeing fundraising initiatives that secure vital financial support for the Symphony and its Academy. As Development Manager, Davenport previously spearheaded the Symphony’s individual annual giving programs, focusing on cultivating strong relationships with donors and supporting the organization’s special events and communications.

Davenport is an active member of the Des Moines arts community. She works with local high school students as a show choir director and assistant drama director, and frequently appears in local theatrical productions.

Her dual roles as a dedicated arts administrator and talented performer reflect her deep commitment to nurturing the arts in Central Iowa.
