IN CONCERT: Barry Manilow, Wells Fargo Arena, 8.1.24

Barry Manilow performed in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena for the final time in his career, Aug. 1, much to the delight of the nearly 10,000 people in attendance. The 81-year-old Manilow, who is in the middle of his final tour after more than 60 years in the entertainment industry, performed hits that spanned decades, including “I Write The Songs,” “Looks Like We Made It,” “Mandy,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” and even snippets of some of the most memorable commercial jingles he’s written such as “Band-Aid” and “State Farm.” Manilow closed with one of his biggest hits, “Copacabana.”
